Client Has a Featured Snippet in Google Search Results

We were researching online performance for one of our oldest client's and found that they have a Featured snippet in Google search results. 

Featured snippet blocks include a summary of the answer, extracted from a webpage, plus a link to the page, the page title and URL. You can read more about them at https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/6229325?hl=en.

There has been a lot of buzz about how to get a featured snippet to improve SEO, and a post at Search Engine Land reports a 516% gain in sessions for their client after earning a featured snippet.

We built the first website for this client in 2000, and over the years it has performed extremely well in local searches. Because they are a local service provider we have never targeted a broader reach. This result was not cleverly planned, but the website has great domain authority and specialized content which we expect is the key.

Happily, we are working on expanding our marketing efforts for this client, and it's a real joy to see that what we've done over the years has already led to some unexpected gains.
